It is with great sadness that Orpheus bids farewell to our friend, our colleague, our financial wizard Pierre Zurawicki who passed away Monday January 4th 2021.

Pierre Zurawicki

Pierre showed incredible perseverance and resilience with his many serious medical issues, including heart transplant surgery, yet persevered with such remarkable optimism. That he should, in the end, succumb to Covid-19 is such a cruel fate.

Pierre was the epitome of intrepid!

For 14 years Orpheus had the great pleasure and good fortune to have Pierre as our trusted Treasurer. He helped us steer through countless financial shoals, always knew the answers, gave us the hard truths and believed in our organizational capacity to bounce back with success. His forecasting ability and clarity in helping us all appreciate and understand our financial minutiae was invaluable.

But even more so was his outspoken support and enthusiasm for Orpheus, our Board and Artistic Director. Pierre was of a generation of committed volunteerism we doubt we will ever see again.

Pierre was gentle, generous, kind, thoughtful…authentic!

The entire Orpheus Choir community extends its sincere condolences to devoted partner, Barbara Griffin, Pierre’s daughters Jess and Alex, and the extended family.

…the music has ended, but the melody lingers on…

With gratitude and affection.
