Do you like to sing?
Are you a member of your school or community choir?
Would you like to take your singing to another level?
We at the Orpheus Choir of Toronto invite you to apply for our Vocal Apprentice Program.
WHAT is the Vocal Apprentice Program?
The Orpheus Choir has created the Vocal Apprentice Program for enthusiastic high school aged singers. No private vocal training is required – just an enthusiastic desire to continue singing through high school and beyond.
WHY is there an Apprentice Program?
As part of our commitment to mentoring fresh vocal talent, the Orpheus Choir wants to work with keen young singers, provide an exciting learning environment, and offer superb performance experiences.
HOW do I apply?
Fill in our online application form. We will arrange a time for you to attend a brief audition before a panel of voice teachers and Orpheus Choir’s Artistic Director, Thomas Burton. Afterwards, you will receive written feedback regarding your audition. Each year, we select up to eight singers for the Vocal Apprentice Program.
WHEN are auditions?
We hold auditions on an ongoing basis at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church which is where Orpheus Choir holds its rehearsals.
WHAT happens next?
If selected for the program, you must attend regular Orpheus rehearsals on Tuesday evenings throughout the months of March and April in preparation and performance in our season program Finale, Sound Mind, (early May 2023, date TBA).
Along the way, you will be mentored by the Orpheus Choir’s Sidgwick Scholars (professional-bound university students) and Artistic Director Thomas Burton, and you will have the opportunity to perform for and receive feedback from a panel of voice coaches.
WHEN is the application deadline?
We accept applications on a rolling basis.
